Immigrant residents with legal domicile (lögheimili) in Svalbarðsstrandarhreppur vote at Valsárskóli in the municipal elections to be held on May 16th, 2026. The polling station is open from 09:00 - 17:00 o'clock. Enter from the west, as shown in the picture.
As an immigrant resident you have the right to vote in the upcoming municipal election if you are 18 years old on the date of the election and have had legal domicile (lögheimili) in Iceland for three years in a row.
Note: What matters is lögheimili in Iceland, not the municipality you now live in.
Also note: It does not matter what type of residence permit you have. Only the duration of your legal domicile in Iceland.

Please also note: you can vote before election day at the office of the District Commissioner (Sýslumaðurinn) in your local community.
